How to add a workflow: manual, scheduled, or auto

Updated 2026-10-16

This lives under Config. You do not open this editor to do daily work. On a record you click a workflow action on the ⋮ menu (Start working, Request approval, Publish). What you see depends on the record and your role. If the Workflows tab is missing, that editor is off. Shipped workflows still run.

The three kinds

  1. Open Config. Click Workflows. Nested tabs split the kinds.
  2. Manual. Someone clicks the action. Example: Request approval.
  3. Scheduled. Runs on a clock. Example: every Monday, remind owners of stale key results.
  4. Auto. Runs when a record is created or changed and a condition matches. Example: when a deal stage becomes Won, notify the founder.

A fourth tab, Connected Fields, is not a workflow class. It lists live COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN, or MAX binds. You create the bind from Connect on the record. Pause or delete here. See Models.

What a step can do

  1. Pick a record type to see its workflows.
  2. A step can set fields, notify someone, call an outside service, start an approval, or run an agent.
  3. Keep that logic here, not as a one-off button on a page.

Approvals that land on My are started by a workflow. See Approvals. Outside calls use Integrations. Agents as a step are Agents.
