How to update an OKR: period, objective, and key result
Open OKR in the left sidebar. Company goals, quarterly objectives, and measurable key results. A red badge usually means key results you own have not been updated in over a month. Progress is a number, not a task board.
How to pick the period and the team
- Use the left menu to focus on a division or team. That is the org navigator.
- Year and quarter sit at the top of that menu. It defaults to the current quarter.
- Change them to plan ahead or review a past period. Only OKRs for that period appear.
- The breadcrumb shows Page → org unit. Click a crumb to change scope.
Example: switch to 2026 Q4 to draft next quarter before this one ends.
How to add an objective and a key result
- Stay on the Okrs view. Objectives are the parent rows. Expand one to see key results: progress and owner (responsible, accountable, consulted, or informed).
- Click header + to create an objective or a key result for the current period and org unit.
- Edit status and owner in the row.
- On a key result, type the current value. That moves progress. You do not drag this on a board.
- The ⋮ menu: edit, ask AI to check the wording, submit for approval. Validate before you send. The assistant checks whether the result is clear and measurable.
Example: objective “Win the mid-market”. Key result “Close 8 new deals” at 3 of 8. You type 4 after a win. Progress moves.
If current value is connectable, you can bind it to a live count or sum from another model. Bind it on the record (Connect next to the field). How that field is set up: Models.
Filter by owner, status, or org unit. Search titles. Those chips sit on the list toolbar. Your RACI rows also show under My → OKR.
How to use the other views
- Moals (mid-term goals that span more than one quarter) appear only when that module is on. Open the tab if you see it.
- Goals are company annual or multi-year goals. Quarterly objectives can align to a goal.
- Statements are vision and mission text. There is no progress bar.
- Settings (default year and quarter for new OKRs) is for leads and above.
Sparkles or Ctrl/Cmd+J opens the OKR assistant. It talks about objectives, key results, and owners. Full steps: How to use the page assistant.
