How to read the bell and edit notification templates
The bell in the header is your in-app inbox. Each row is for you. Click it: the path opens and the row is marked read. You cannot invent inbox rows by hand. A workflow NOTIFY writes them.
If someone turns Notifications off, the bell and the editor hide. NOTIFY effects can still write rows when a template exists.
How to read your inbox
- Click the bell in the header.
- Open a row. You land on the record or the page the template pointed to.
- That row is now read.
Example: a workflow “Task assigned” says “Send the contract was assigned to you” and lands in your bell. You click it and the task panel opens.
How to edit a template (admin)
This lives under Config, on the Notifications tab. Not everyone sees Config. The Config tour walks this editor. If the tab is missing, that editor is off.
- Open Config. Click Notifications.
- Open a template, or add one.
- Title and body can insert fields from the record, such as {title} or {owner.name} ({field} and {fk.field}).
- Path is where the click goes.
- Recipients come from to_paths: fields on the record that say who should get it.
- Channels add email, or chat through an integration endpoint. Every send still writes an in-app row.
Keep the logic on the workflow step, not as a one-off button on a page. See Workflows and Integrations.
How email looks
The email channel puts title and body in the workspace email frame: main logo (or the company name), a card, a button, one footer line. You do not edit that frame here. Colors and fonts follow the brand. Public page colors can override them. Fonts fall back to Typography. Under Branding → Email you can show the logo in emails and set the footer. Change a color in the brand kit and login, public forms, and mail move together. The button opens the path at your workspace address.
Announcements sent by email use the same frame. One-to-one CRM mails from an email template stay plain unless that template turns on Brand Layout. Those should read like a person wrote them.
