Board File Agent: drafts boards, flows and kanban layouts

Updated 2026-10-15

A board is a canvas with shapes, notes and arrows. The Board File Agent is the specialist that drafts one. You describe a flow, a mind map or a kanban layout, and it returns the board content. It removes the slow part of an empty canvas: placing and connecting twenty shapes by hand.

You rarely call it directly. The Docs Assistant asks it for a draft when you work on a board in Docs.

What it does

When it helps

How it works with your data

The Board File Agent has no tools. It cannot search your workspace, read records or save files. It only turns the request, and the records or existing board it is given, into board content. The Docs Assistant passes in the data it is allowed to read, and then writes the result. When a board is open, you see the proposal and confirm with Add to board.

It never invents records. If you hand it tasks, it draws those tasks and no others. It runs on a fast model by default.

It does not explain its work. Its output is board content for the editor, so for explanations you ask the Docs Assistant.

Make it yours

The Board File Agent is a record in the Agents module. You can change its instructions, for example to prefer your own shape conventions, change the model and temperature, or duplicate it for a different style of diagram. The steps are in Build your own agent, and the editor is described in How to edit a page assistant and a reusable agent. A sibling for slides and page layouts is the Design File Agent.
