Design File Agent: drafts slides, posters and layouts as design files
The Design File Agent drafts designs. Ask for a title slide, a three-column feature page or a poster, and it returns a design with text, cards and shapes placed on a page. You start from a layout, not an empty canvas.
It is a specialist. You usually meet it through the Docs Assistant while a design file is open on the Docs page.
What it does
- Drafts a design file with one or more pages, at the page size you give or a standard presentation size when you give none.
- Drafts a scene for a design that is already open. You get only the new elements, and you decide whether to add them.
- Uses sensible layouts. Title and hero pages, two-column and three-column pages, cards for features, wide margins, large titles and readable body text.
- Revises without breaking. When you give it an existing design, it keeps page structure and ids and changes only what you ask for.
- Builds from records. If you pass a list of records, it turns each into a card or text box, or into equal columns. It does not add records you did not supply.
- Keeps your brand. Colours come from your workspace palette, so a design follows your theme.
When it helps
- You must present the quarter tomorrow. "Three-column page with our top three key results" gives you a first layout from real records.
- A team wants a one-page poster for an event. You describe the title, date and three highlights, and get a structured draft.
- You like a design but need one more feature card. The agent adds it and keeps everything else.
How it works with your data
The Design File Agent has no tools. It cannot search, read records or save. It turns the request, and any data and existing design it is given, into design content. The Docs Assistant reads what you are allowed to read, passes it along, and shows the proposal. With a design open, you confirm with Add to design. Nothing is claimed as added before that.
It does not explain its output and it does not generate photographs. Image content is described by the Image File Agent. For boards and flows, use the Board File Agent. It runs on a fast model by default.
Make it yours
This agent is a record in the Agents module. You can change its instructions, for example to set your own page sizes or type scale, change its model and temperature, duplicate it for a different format, or start blank. Follow Build your own agent for the steps, and see How to edit a page assistant and a reusable agent for the editor.
